Baseball Picks up Non-Conference Win over CCNY, 10-5

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College baseball team rallied back to earn a 10-5 non-conference win over the City College of New York on Thursday evening at Gregg Alfano Field.

The Golden Eagles improve to 20-14 on the season and the Beavers slide to 12-20 overall.

SCJ led 3-0 after one inning but quickly fell behind when the Beavers scored four in the top of the second. A CCNY run in the top of the third pushed the score to 5-3, but the Golden Eagles answered in the bottom half of the inning when Vincent Biordi drove home Louis Fontinha with a single down the leftfield line.

St. Joseph's retook the lead with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Paul Britt led off the inning with a base hit to left and advanced to second when the ball was misplayed in the outfield. Dylan Piscitelli followed with an RBI triple to right and a walk to Tyler Sanderson put runners on the corners. Anthony Raucci came up and sent an RBI double to right bringing in Piscitelli and Daniel Campanelli's sacrifice fly brought home Sanderson for a 7-5 lead.

The Golden Eagles added some insurance in the bottom of the seventh when Britt's infield single plated Matthew Burnett and Piscitelli knocked in two runs with his second triple of the day moving the score to its final 10-5.

Burnett, Britt, Piscitelli, and Raucci all finished with three hits apiece.

Tim Woodford earned his second win of the season tossing three scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

The Golden Eagles wrap up the regular season on Sunday, April 29 with they host Yeshiva University at 12:00 pm.
