Baseball Moves On to Skyline Final with 7-1 win over Farmingdale

Farmingdale, NY| The second-seeded St. Joseph's College baseball team advanced to the Skyline Championship final game with a 7-1 win over top-seeded Farmingdale State this afternoon.

The Golden Eagles improve to 24-14 with the Rams dropping to 24-13.

An RBI triple from Paul Britt put St. Joseph's ahead 1-0 in the top of the first. The Golden Eagles added to their lead with three runs in the second. Anthony Raucci worked a walk to start the inning and moved to third on a double to left by Matthew Burnett. Back-to-back RBI singles from Daniel Campanelli and Tyler Crafa pushed two runs across for a 3-0 lead. A walk and a hits batsman capped produced another run moving the score to 4-0.

An unearned run in the top of the fifth and an RBI single from Campanelli in the seventh extended the SJC lead to 6-0 before the Rams got on the board with a run in the bottom half of the seventh.

Campanelli's third RBI of the day in the top of the ninth capped the scoring as the Golden Eagles cruised to a 7-1 win.

The SJC 7-8-9 hitters of Burnett, Campanelli, and Crafa combined for six hits, four RBI's, and three runs scored.

The Golden Eagles got their second consecutive complete game effort this time from Joseph Murphy who allowed one run on six hits with six strikeouts. FSC's David Otero Jr. was tagged with the loss allowing two runs on one hit in one inning.

St. Joseph's moves on to play fourth-seeded USMMA Sunday, May 6. Game time is slated for 10:00 am.
