W. Basketball's Danielle Hamlin Named to All-Skyline Second Team

Press Release from the Skyline Conference

2013-14 All-Conference Team

New York, N.Y. – Junior guard Camille Romero of Farmingdale State has been named the 2013-14 Skyline Women's Basketball Player of the Year in voting conducted among the Conference's eight head coaches.

The Skyline coaches also selected Frankie Pearson of Sage as Rookie of the Year, Mount Saint Vincent's Kelly Fraser as Defensive Player of the Year and Kevin Clifford of Mount Saint Vincent as Coach of the Year.

Romero enters the Rams' Skyline semifinal match-up on Feb. 27 versus CMSV averaging a team-high 19.7 points with 55 assists and 50 steals.  A native of Queens, N.Y., and two-time Player of the Week honoree, Romero has compiled 13 performances of 20 or more points and scored in double figures in 23 of the team's 24 regular-season contests.  FSC captured the Skyline regular season crown with a 13-1 record.

A four-time Rookie of the Week selection, Pearson is averaging 9.5 points in just 20.1 minutes per game as Sage has won a program-record 15 contests and will face Purchase on Feb. 27 in the semifinals of the Skyline Championship.  A resident of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., the freshman guard averaged 10.3 points in league action and leads the Gators with 36 three-point field goals.

Fraser ranks first in the conference in both rebounding (13.1 rpg.) and blocked shots (3.56 bpg.) entering the Dolphins' Skyline semifinal contest at Farmingdale State on Feb. 27.  The junior center leads CMSV in scoring (17.4 ppg.) and has registered a league-leading 19 double-doubles on the year.

Romero and Fraser are joined on the All-Conference first team by Megan Bowman of Sage; Old Westbury's DeAndra Scott; Jazmin Garcia of Purchase; and Farmingdale State's Nicky Young.  Garcia leads the conference in scoring (21.8 ppg.), while Scott is a three-time All-Conference selection who has amassed 41 double-doubles performances during her stellar career.

Joining Pearson on the second-team All-Conference is Mount Saint Vincent's Christina Barone; Alyssa D'Apice of NYU-Poly; Mount Saint Mary's Rachel Perrone; Danielle Hamlin of St. Joseph's-L.I.; and Elizabeth Osowiecki of Purchase.

Now in his second season, Clifford has guided CMSV (17-8) to its first appearance in the Skyline Women's Basketball Championship since the 2009-10 campaign, and the Dolphins 9-5 league record represents an eight-win improvement from a year ago. Clifford is a 1999 graduate of Sacred Heart and completed his master's in Elementary Education at CCNY in 2003.
