Patchogue, NY| After posting a 9-9 overall record and earning a spot in the Skyline Conference Championship last season as the #2 seed, the St. Joseph's College women's lacrosse team looks to make its way back to the postseason in 2018.

Finishing 7-1 in conference play in 2017, the Golden Eagles took down third-seeded SUNY Old Westbury, 14-6, in the Skyline semifinal round.  SJC faced top-seeded Farmingdale State in the championship game, ultimately falling to the Rams 16-5.

The Returners: St. Joseph's returns 13 Golden Eagles to the 2018 squad including five Skyline All-Conference selections.

Junior Nicole Stoppelli looks to guide the SJC offense and improve upon her career-high numbers from last year of 42 goals, 34 assists, 25 groundballs and 16 caused turnovers.

Patrolling the midfield will be sophomore Diana Johnston and senior Kristin Carroll, who return after leading the Golden Eagles with 57 and 36 draw controls, respectively. The pair combined for 66 goals and 23 assists on the offensive end while causing 20 turnovers and picking up 35 groundballs.

Senior Chelsea Tarazona leads the Golden Eagle defense after finishing last season with a team-high 20 caused turnovers with 28 groundballs. Joining her on the back line is junior Samantha Caruso, who caused 19 turnovers and picked up 24 groundballs.

The Newcomers: After three seasons as an assistant, Kristen Znaniecki begins her first year as head coach adding three new Golden Eagles to the 2018 squad.

Freshman Taylor Ferrito adds depth to the SJC offense while junior Samantha Ruic and freshman Alexandra Ehrhart aim to make impacts on a Golden Eagle defense that finished third in the conference in both caused turnovers-per-game (9.83) and goals-against average (10.49).

Expectations: Despite losing their top scorer in Brooke Kruescher, Znaniecki returns a core of key starters on both ends of the field including goalkeeper Lindsay Ramos who led the Skyline in 2017 with 9.89 saves per game.

St. Joseph's sits second in the Skyline Conference Preseason Coaches Poll behind last year's champion Farmingdale State, forecasting the Golden Eagles to avenge their only conference loss in 2017.
