Women's Lacrosse Advances to Skyline Finals with 12-9 Win Over Farmingdale

Farmingdale, NY| The third-seeded St. Joseph's College women's lacrosse team advanced to the Skyline Conference Championship final game with a 12-9 win over #2 Farmingdale State.

The Golden Eagles even out at 8-8 on the season and the Rams wrap up the season at 7-9.

Farmingdale was first on the board with a goal four minutes into play taking their only lead of the game. Alexis Hillman broke through for the Golden Eagles scoring off a pass from Maygan Forssell. Kristin Carroll and Ally Johnston put SJC ahead 3-1, but Farmingdale's Julia Tuohy closed the gap to one, 3-2, at the midway point. The Golden Eagles went on to outscore the Rams 4-1 in the second portion of the half taking a 7-3 lead into the break.

The Rams opened the second frame with back-to-back goals from Alexandra Sparrow to cut the deficit to just two, 7-5. After both sides traded goals, Carroll converted a free position opportunity to spark a 3-0 run putting the visitors ahead 11-6 with less than 20 minutes left on the clock.  Farmingdale's Nicola Ingrassia moved the score to 11-7 before a scoring drought lasting nearly 14 minutes was snapped by Hillman's third goal of the day at the 3:48 mark. The Rams netted two free position goals in the final minutes but it wasn't enough as the Golden Eagles cruised to a 12-9 win.

Carroll finished with a game-high five goals and seven draw controls. Hillman finished with three goals and Nicole Stoppelli pitched in with two goals and an assist.

Leading the defense was Samantha Caruso with a game-high four caused turnovers and five groundballs. Chelsea Tarazona led all players on the field with six groundballs while causing three turnovers.

Goalkeeper Lindsay Ramos was solid between the pipes with eight saves.
