Women's Lacrosse Edged by Rams, 12-10

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's lacrosse team came up on the short end of a 12-10 decision with Farmingdale State University on Wednesday evening at Danzi Stadium.

The loss snaps a three-game winning streak for the Golden Eagles, who dropped to 5-6 on the season, 3-1 in Skyline play. The Rams improve to 4-8 overall with a 3-1 conference mark.

SJC held the visitors scoreless through the first half of the opening frame while building a 4-0 lead. After a Farmingdale timeout, Julia Tuohy netted back-to-goals to spark a 7-1 streak sending the Rams into the break leading 7-5.

The Golden Eagles opened the second half with a man-up goal and went on to tie the score at seven with an unassisted goal from senior Kristin Carroll just past the midway point. The Rams regained a two-point advantage, 9-7, with just over to 12 minutes on the clock.

The two sides traded goals with Carroll's third goal of the evening inching the Golden Eagles to within one, 11-10, but FSU's Courtney Gendels' goal with 57 seconds on the clock secured the 12-10 win.

Carroll's hat trick was a game-high for the Golden Eagles with junior Nicole Stoppelli finishing with three points on one goal and two assists. Sophomore Lauryn Gregson and senior Ally Johnston pitched in with two goals apiece.

Junior goalkeeper Lindsay Ramos recorded 11 saves with her counterpart Jessica Meyers finishing with nine.

An evenly matched game saw the home team with a slight 31-29 shot advantage with the visitors coming away with 15 draw controls to SJC's nine.
