Women's Lacrosse Defeats Manhattanville, 17-9

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's lacrosse team defeated Manhattanville College 17-9 in non-conference action Tuesday evening at Danzi Stadium.

The contest saw six Golden Eagles find the back of the net with sophomore Diana Johnston and junior Nicole Stoppelli contributing five goals apiece. Senior Kristin Carroll pitched in with four goals and four assists. Sophomore Lauren Gregson, senior Maygan Forssell and freshman and Taylor Ferrito tallied a goal each.

The Valiants (2-3) were first on the board with a goal from Rosie DeBellis. The Golden Eagles (2-3) responded with four unanswered to go ahead 4-1 before taking an 8-4 advantage into the break

The two sides traded goals to start the second half, but back-to-back goals from Carroll sparked a 6-0 run late in the frame guiding SJC to the 17-9 win.

St. Joseph's outshot the visitors 42-22 with an 18-10 draw control advantage. The Golden Eagles finished 17-for-23 in clear attempts while going 5-for-8 in free-position shots.

Junior goalkeeper Lindsay Ramos came away with eight save with her counterpart Alex Breen totaling 15.

The Golden Eagles return to action Saturday, March 31 when they travel to take on Stockton University. Game time is set for 3:00 pm.
