Women's Lacrosse Downs Purchase, 17-6

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's lacrosse team won its second straight Skyline Conference decision 17-6 over Purchase College Tuesday evening at Danzi Stadium.

The Golden Eagles improve to 4-5 on the season with a 2-0 record in Skyline play. The Panthers fall to 7-1 overall, 2-1 Skyline.

The Golden Eagles scored first when Alexis Hillman connected with senior Ally Johnston 2:30 into the game. The Panthers answered with two straight free position goals from Gabriella Castles and Zoe Hines to take their only lead of the evening. Junior Nicole Stoppelli sparked a 7-0 run for the Golden Eagles that Johnston capped with back-to-back goals to extend the SJC lead to 8-2. PC's Hines connected with Kelly Turtell twice in the final two minutes of the half to send the team into the break with the score at 8-4.

Despite being held to just one goal through the first 11 minutes of the second frame, the Golden Eagles went on to outscore the Panthers 9 to 2 earning the 17-6 win.

Senior Kristin Carroll recorded a season-high seven goals with five groundballs and three draw controls. Johnston finished with four goals with an assist. Stoppelli pitched in with two goals, seven draw controls, and four groundballs.

PC was led by Turtell with three goals and seven draw controls.

SJC goalkeeper Lindsay Ramos recorded her fourth win while making three saves.

The Golden Eagles outshot the Panthers 34 to 11 with a 22-10 edge in groundballs.

St. Joseph's returns to Danzi Stadium on Saturday, April 14 when they host Mt. St. Mary at 12:00 pm.
