Men’s Basketball Tops SJC-Brooklyn for 2nd-Straight Win

Patchogue, NY| Spencer Malloy scored a game-best 27 points in the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's basketball team's 84-65 win over St. Joseph's College (Brkln) inside the Danzi Center on Wednesday evening.

The Golden Eagles win their second-straight contest and their third in the last four games to improve to 3-4 overall on the year and 1-1 in Skyline Conference play. The Bears drop to 0-7 and 0-2. 

Malloy shot 12-for-19 from the field and was credited with eight rebounds, two assists, and one block.

Sophomore Jake Gaudiello went for 18 points (6-for-8 FG, 4-for-6 3FG) and a game-best six assists. Freshman Alec Tabada shot 4-for-7 from the field, scored 13 points, pulled down seven rebounds, and dished out five assists.

Sophomore Ryan McNeely provided 10 points on 4-for-7 shooting from the bench.

In a game that featured five lead changes and five ties, SJC carried the play early but had to fight off a mid-first half surge by Brooklyn to go into the break up 33-29.

The Bears brought the game to within two points (51-49) midway through the second, but the hosts scored 13 of the next 19 points en route to a 19-point victory.

SJC shot 50.0% from the field and 33.3% from three. Brooklyn held a slim 38-37 edge in rebounding but turned the ball over 12 times to SJC's nine.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, December 4, when they visit Farmingdale State for a Skyline Conference contest at 1:00 pm.
