Men's Basketball Finishes Regular Season with 62-55 win over CMSV

Patchogue, NY| Senior Matthew Hirdt knocked down a game-high 27 points to lead the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's basketball team to a 62-55 Skyline Conference victory over the College of Mt. St. Vincent in the regular-season finale.

The Golden Eagles close the regular season capturing nine out of the last 10 contests and with a 15-8 overall record, 11-5 Skyline. The Dolphins move to 9-15 on the season with a 7-9 conference mark.

Hirdt's 27 points came courtesy of 9-for-16 shooting from the field with a 7-for-11 performance from three-point range.

Freshman Alec Tabada recorded 10 points, seven rebounds, and two steals. Sophomore Spencer Malloy turned in eight points with seven boards and three assists. Jake Gaudiello also finished with eight points while dishing four assists and grabbing four steals.

The Dolphins were led by Kelvin Turner-Harris with 14 points. Kalos Evans recorded a double-double of 13 points and a game-best 15 rebounds.

Trailing by five at the break, Hirdt opened the second half scoring by dropping in back-to-back threes giving SJC a 36-35 lead. Minutes later, Hirdt knocked down three more triples and a bucket from Malloy gave the Golden Eagles their largest lead of the afternoon, 54-45, and they went on to cruise to the 62-55 win.

SJC finished shooting 39.3% from the field, 54.5% from three-point range while holding the Dolphins to 35.5%.
