Gaudiello Powers Men's Basketball Past Mt. St. Mary

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's basketball team defeated the Mount St. Mary Knights, 76-57, in a Skyline Conference match-up in the Danzi Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles improve to 4-4 in Skyline play and 8-7 overall with the win as the Knights drop to 3-2 and 5-8 overall.

For the second consecutive game, four Golden Eagles put up double-digit points. Junior Jake Gaudiello and freshman Alec Tabada each scored 15 points in the contest, which led the Golden Eagles. Sophomore Spencer Malloy added 14 points, with sophomore Timothy Hirdt scored 12.

Gaudiello was 3-for-6 shooting from three, which included a buzzer-beater to cap the first half and put St. Joseph's up 39-33 at the half. The junior also led the team with eight assists.

Connor Cyran led the Knights with 14 points while recording four rebounds. Jayden Figueroa led the team with eight rebounds.

After a back-and-forth first half, the Golden Eagles started the second half strong. They scored 10 points in the first five minutes to extend their lead to 49-33.

A three-point shot for senior Matthew Hirdt at the 10:06 mark put the hosts up by 19, their largest lead of the game, until senior Kevin O'Halloran's three-pointer with 12 seconds on the clock made it a 76-55 game.

SJC shot 50.8% from the field, while the Knights posted a 45.3% shooting percentage.

Next up the Golden Eagles host the Purchase College Panthers on Wednesday, January 26, at 5:30pm in the Danzi Center.
