Malloy Leads Men's Basketball to 5th Straight Win

Throggs Neck, NY| Sophomore Spencer Malloy scored a game-high 27 points to lead the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's basketball team to a 64-52 Skyline Conference victory over SUNY Maritime on Wednesday evening.

For the Golden Eagles, it's a fifth-straight win that sees them improve to 11-7 overall and 7-4 in conference play. The Privateers drop to 3-15 and 0-11.

Malloy's 27 points came via 12-for-14 shooting from the field. The center also contributed seven rebounds and two assists.

Freshman Alex Tabada went for 19 points (8-for-12 FG), seven rebounds, and four steals. 

Graduate student Gordon Shoulder's jumper 5:17 into the contest gave SJC the lead (11-9) and the guests stayed in front for the remainder of the evening.

Up 15 at the half (34-19), SJC built their largest lead of the evening (22 points) with 3:49 to play and cruised to a 12-point victory. 

St. Joseph's shot 52.9% from the field and held the Privateers to a 38.9% shooting percentage. SJC also held advantages in rebounds (35-28), points in the paint (44-32), and points off turnovers (28-10).

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, February 5, when they visit St. Joseph's (Brkln) for a Skyline Conference contest at 1:00 pm.
