Newburgh, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat to Mount St. Mary in a Skyline Conference tilt at Kaplan Field on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Golden Eagles fall to 7-5 (3-1 Skyline) on the year as the Knights improve to 10-2 (4-0 Skyline).

The Knights controlled possession early in the match and netted the first goal at the 28-minute mark when Alexa Franceschi sent a cross from the right flank to a streaking Destiny Ribadeneyra, who headed it past SJC keeper Karissa Rutigliano.

Although outshot 7-2 in the first half, St. Joseph's continued to hold its own against an organized Mount St. Mary side and reached the break down 1-0.

The Knights came flying out of the gates in the second half and went on to double their advantage in the 48th minute when Nicolette Wurglics delivered a pass to Ribadenerya, who slotted home her second of the match from the top of the box.

SJC's Carly Credidio had a chance to knot the score up in the 58th minute when she found space on the left flank and headed a shot off the crossbar.

Contained through the final 32 minutes, the Golden Eagles failed to find an equalizer and were handed a 2-0 loss.

Rutigliano made four saves on nine shots in a match that saw her side outshot 17-5.

The Golden Eagles return to action Wednesday, October 11 when they host Sarah Lawrence at Danzi Stadium for 7:00 PM Skyline Conference matchup.
