Men's Volleyball's Amberge Tabbed Skyline Rookie of the Week

New York, NY| The Skyline Conference released its weekly awards on Monday afternoon, and amongst the winners was freshman Matthew Amberge, who earned Rookie of the Week honors for men's volleyball. Additionally, Theresa Cardello of the softball team earned Weekly Honor Roll recognition.

Matthew Amberge – Men's Volleyball Rookie of the Week

In three matches last week, Amberge hit .362 and collected 36 kills. After going for 10 kills in a 3-1 win over CCNY on Monday, the Bellmore, NY native went for a game-best eight kills in a 3-0 sweep of Yeshiva University on Sunday afternoon. Also on Sunday, Amberge hit .516 and registered a game-best 18 kills in a four-set defeat to the College of Mount St. Vincent. As of Monday afternoon, Amberge was third on the team in kills (196) and fourth in hitting percentage (.208).

Theresa Cardello – Softball Weekly Honor Roll

In one appearance last week, a 2-1 win over Skyline rival SUNY Old Westbury, Cardello struck out six batters and allowed one earned run in a complete game effort on Sundat afternoon. Now sporting a 4-2 overall record on the year, the North Babylon, NY native ranks fifth in the Skyline Conference with a 2.20 earned run average.
