Five Golden Eagles Earn Skyline Conference Weekly Honors

New York, NY| The Skyline Conference released its weekly awards on Monday afternoon, and amongst the winners were five St. Joseph's College (L.I ) Golden Eagles, including senior Erin MacDonell (Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week), sophomores Rayneri Ruiz (Men's Soccer Player of the Week) and Nora Burnett (Women's Tennis Player of the Week), and freshmen Megan Haviland (Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week) and Carly Credidio (Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week).

Additionally, junior Ryan Haun (men's cross country) and sophomore Christina Gagliardi (women's soccer) appeared on Weekly Honor Rolls for their respective sports.

Erin MacDonell (Sr.) – Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week

For the fifth time this season, MacDonell was named Runner of the Week, this time following a third-place finish at the New Jersey Institute of Technology's Highlander XC Challenge at Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ on Saturday. The Sayville, NY native finished third and posted the best Division III time (18:43.48) and was beaten in the Division II/Division III/junior college results only by a pair of runners from Division II's St. Thomas Aquinas. Additionally, MacDonell crossed the finish line before 26 of the 27 competing Division I runners.

Rayneri Ruiz (So.) – Men's Soccer Player of the Week

Ruiz tallied four goals in two matches last week as the men's soccer team posted a 2-0 record to move into first place in the Skyline Conference standings. The Bay Shore, NY native scored the game-winning overtime goal in SJC's 2-1 home victory over SUNY Old Westbury on Tuesday before recording his first-career hat trick in a 5-1 dismantling of Sarah Lawrence on Saturday evening. Now with a team-leading eight goals in nine games this season, Ruiz ranked second in the conference in goals-per-game (2.11) prior to Tuesday evening's action.

Nora Burnett (So.) – Women's Tennis Player of the Week

Burnett posted 2-0 records in singles and doubles play last week as the women's tennis team went 2-0 to improve to 7-2 on the year and 4-1 in conference play. On Tuesday vs. Purchase, Burnett came from behind in her third singles match to earn a 4-6, 6-1,10-5 win. The Amityville, NY would go on to pick up wins at first doubles (8-0) and second singles (6-0, 6-0) four days later in a victory over St. Joseph's College (Brkln).

Meagan Haviland (Fr.) – Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week

For the fourth time this season, Haviland is conference Rookie of the Week one week after sweeping Skyline and ECAC Metro honors. At Saturday's Highlander XC Challenge, Haviland turned in a 17th-place finish among the 141 Division II, Division III and junior college competitors. With a 5k time of 20:02.44, the Sound Beach, NY native was the highest-placing Division II/Division III/junior college freshman finisher and helped lead the Golden Eagles to a fourth-place finish.

Carly Credidio (Fr.) – Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week

Credidio collected 10 points in three games as the women's soccer team posted a 2-1 record last week. In a 2-1 win over Skyline opponent Old Westbury last Tuesday, the Farmingville, NY native tallied an assist on the game's opening goal and later netted the game-winner. On Wednesday, the forward recorded her first career hat trick and was credited with an assist in a lopsided 11-0 win over York College. Now with 16 points on the season, Credidio ranks second on the team and 10th in the conference in goals (7).

Ryan Haun (Jr.) – Men's Cross Country Weekly Honor Roll                  

Haun appeared on the Men's Cross Country Weekly Honor Roll for the third time this season after turning in a sixth-place finish at the Highlander XC Challenge on Saturday. With an 8k time of 27:25.07, Haun was the second-highest placing Skyline Conference runner at an event that saw the men's team place fifth in a field of 18 competing schools.  

Christina Gagliardi (So.) – Women's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll

Gagliardi collected seven points in three games as the women's soccer team posted a 2-1 record last week. In a 2-1 win over Skyline opponent Old Westbury on Tuesday, the Ronkonkoma, NY native tallied the game's opening goal, and on Wednesday she scored twice, including the game-winner, and picked up an assist in an 11-0 win over York College. Now with a team-leading 31 points on the season, Gagliardi ranks third in the conference in goals (13) and is fifth in points. Additionally, she is 10th in the nation in game-winning goals (4).
