Arbiter, Biggers and Martino Earn Skyline Player, Pitcher of the Week Honors

New York, NY| The Skyline Conference released its weekly awards on Monday morning, and amongst the winners were senior Kristen Arbiter (softball) and sophomore Kyle Biggers (men's volleyball), who earned Player of the Week honors for their respective sports. Additionally, senior PJ Martino was named Baseball Pitcher of the Week while Theresa Cardello (softball), Casey Hickey (men's lacrosse), Nicole Stoppelli (women's lacrosse) and Dylan Piscitelli (baseball) appeared on Weekly Honor Rolls.

Kristen Arbiter (Sr.) – Softball Player of the Week

Through eight games last week (SJC 6-2), Arbiter batted .500 (15-for-30), scored eight times, drove in 11 runs and hit for 10 extra-base hits (7 2B, 2 3B, HR). The Seaford, NY native belted a walk-off home run in the first game of SJC's home doubleheader vs. John Jay on Tuesday and went 3-for-4 with two doubles a triple and two RBI's in an 11-3 win over Hunter on Thursday. The catcher currently leads the Skyline Conference in RBI's (13), doubles (9), home runs (2) and total bases (40).

Kyle Biggers (So.) – Men's Volleyball Player of the Week

During a 3-0 week for the Golden Eagles, Biggers hit .708 and put down 19 kills at a 2.1 kills-per-set rate. In a sweep of Purchase on March 28, the middle blocker hit .667 and collected seven kills. The Holbrook, NY native followed that performance up with a game-high eight kills (.636 hitting %) in a 3-0 victory at Sarah Lawrence on Saturday. Now hitting at 44% efficiency, Biggers ranks sixth in the nation in hitting percentage.

PJ Martino (Sr.) – Baseball Pitcher of the Year

Martino fanned six batters and allowed one earned run in a complete-game, 2-1 victory over the United States Merchant Marine Academy at home on Saturday afternoon. After allowing a run in the first inning, Martino tossed six scoreless innings to earn his third victory of the season.

Theresa Cardello (Sr.) – Softball Weekly Honor Roll

In four starts last week Cardello posted a 3-1 record and struck out a total of 36 batters in 30 innings of action. In a 6-3 win over John Jay on March 27, the North Babylon, NY native fanned a career-high 13 batters. Four days later, in a 6-5, nine-inning victory over SUNY Old Westbury in SJC's conference opener, the hurler established a new personal best of 14 strikeouts. Sporting a 1.51 earned-run average, Cardello ranks first among Skyline Conference starters in the statistical category.

Casey Hickey (Sr.) – Men's Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll

Hickey went for five goals and three assists across two games last week as the men's lacrosse team posted a 2-0 record. After a three-point performance (2 G, 1 A) in a 7-6 win at Manhattanville on Monday, the midfielder tallied three goals and two assists for five points in an 18-3 dismissal of Mount St. Vincent on Thursday afternoon. Hickey is SJC's current leader in assists (11) and points (26) through seven games this season.

Nicole Stoppelli (Jr.) – Women's Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll

Stoppelli scored three times and dished out four assists in the women's lacrosse team's 18-13 defeat at Stockton University on Saturday afternoon. The midfielder was also credited with five draw controls, two caused turnovers and two ground balls. Through six games this season, the Lindehurst, NY native leads the Golden Eagles with 38 points and ranks third in the conference in points-per-game (6.33).

Dylan Piscitelli (Sr.) – Baseball Weekly Honor Roll

Piscitelli sported a .455 batting average during a 1-2 to week for the baseball team. The outfielder recorded two hits in both games of a Skyline doubleheader at home vs. USMMA on Saturday afternoon and knocked in the winning run as SJC earned a 2-1 victory in game two. Hitting .341 on the year, the Greenlawn, NY native leads the team with four doubles and ranks fourth with eight RBI's.
