Biggers Named Skyline Player of the Week, Costa and Jones Land on Weekly Honor Rolls

New York, NY| The Skyline Conference released its weekly awards on Monday afternoon, and amongst the winners was sophomore Kyle Biggers, who earned Men's Volleyball Player of the Week honors. Additionally, junior Tyler Costa (baseball) and sophomore Zak Jones (men's lacrosse) appeared on Weekly Honor Rolls for their respective sports.

Kyle Biggers (So.) – Men's Volleyball Player of the Week

In two matches last week, Biggers sported a .480 hitting percentage and put down 16 kills at a 2.66 kills-per-set rate. In a 3-0 sweep at St. Joseph's (Brkln) on Tuesday, the middle blocker hit .533 and collected a game-high 10 kills. The sophomore wrapped the week with a six-kill (.400 hitting percentage) performance in a defeat to #3 Stevens Institute on Saturday. The 2017 NCAA Division III hitting percentage statistical champion, Biggers is currently hitting .431 on the year. He leads the Skyline Conference and ranks eighth in the nation.  

Tyler Costa (Jr.) – Baseball Weekly Honor Roll

Costa went 4-for-6 (.667 batting average) with five RBI's, two stolen bases, one home run and one run as the baseball team picked up a pair of victories over Skyline rival SUNY Maritime on Sunday afternoon. With the scored tied 9-9 in the seventh inning of the doubleheader's second game, Costa belted a grand slam to lift the Golden Eagles to a 13-9 victory. As of Monday afternoon, Costa was third on the team in both batting average (.417) and RBI's (7).

Zak Jones (So.) – Men's Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll

In a 17-14 home defeat to conference rival USMMA on Saturday afternoon, Jones matched a game-high of six goals on seven shots and added a helper for seven points. Before play on Monday, Jones led the Golden Eagles in both goals (17) and points (20) and ranked fourth in the conference in goals-per-game (3.40).
