New York, NY| The Skyline Conference released its weekly awards on Monday afternoon, and amongst the winners were sophomore Matthew Amberge (men's volleyball) and senior Andrea Iavarone (women's basketball) who were named Players of the Week in their respective sports.

Matthew Amberge (So.) - Men's Volleyball Player of the Week

Through two matches last week, Amberge hit .320 and put down 4.17 kills-per-set as the men's volleyball team improved to 6-3 on the year with a pair of 3-0 sweeps. Against Messiah on Saturday, the outside hitter put down 13 kills at a .375 clip. Later in the afternoon, the Bellmore, NY native recorded 12 kills in a victory over SUNY Poly. Amberge, a first-time Skyline Player of the Week, currently ranks second on the team in both total kills (73) and kills-per-set (2.35).

Andrea Iavarone (Sr.) - Women's Basketball Player of the Week

An eventful week for Iavarone saw the senior break a handful of program records. At SJC-Brooklyn on February 6, Iavarone posted a triple-double of 25 points, 24 rebounds, and 10 blocks. The performance saw her become only the second player in program history to eclipse the 1,000 rebound mark. Additionally, the forward broke the program's single-season blocks record (now 56) and matched the single-game block record. In a win over Yeshiva on February 8, Iavarone dropped 21 points and became the program's all-time leading scorer. As of Monday, her career total came to 1,443 points. And on Saturday, in a loss to Old Westbury, the Miller Place, NY native grabbed 13 rebounds to break the SJC single-season rebound record. Iavarone currently leads the Skyline Conference in scoring (20.6 PPG) and rebounding (16.3 RPG).
