XC Trio Dominates Skyline Weekly Awards

New York, NY| The Skyline Conference released its weekly awards on Tuesday morning, and amongst the winners were junior Matt Lopez (men's cross country) and freshman Gianna Dickson (women's cross country) who were named Runners of the Week.

Additionally, sophomore Marissa Degni was dubbed Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week, and junior Trinity Behlen (women's tennis) and senior Amanda Goldstein (women's volleyball) appeared on Weekly Honor Rolls.

Matt Lopez (Jr.) – Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Lopez finished 12th at Saturday's SJC Invitational at Sunken Meadow State Park with an 8k time of 29:20.14. The junior was third among Division III runners and first among Skyline competitors. Lopez wins Runner of the Week honors for the fourth time this season.

Gianna Dickson (Fr.) - Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Dickson powered the women's team to a second-place finish at Saturday's SJC Invitational. The four-time Rookie of the Week posted a 5k time of 21:23.29 and finished in 10th place as the event's top Skyline and Division III runner. Dickson is Runner of the Week for the second time this season. 

Marissa Degni (So.) - Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week
Degni finished 11th, one place behind Dickson, at the SJC Invitational on Saturday, making her the second-best Division III and Skyline runner at the event. The sophomore posted a 5k time of 21:23.55 and helped lead SJC to a second-place finish.

Trinity Behlen (Jr.) - Women's Tennis Weekly Honor Roll
Behlen went 2-0 in singles action and 1-1 in doubles play last week as the women's tennis team posted a 1-1 mark to end the regular season. In a 7-2 loss to Farmingdale on Oct. 14, Behlen secured an 8-6 win at sixth singles, and in a 5-4 victory over John Jay on Oct. 17 the junior was triumphant, 8-6 and 7-6, 6-4, at first doubles and sixth singles, respectively. 

Amanda Goldstein (Sr.) - Women's Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll
Goldstein hit a team-best .281 last week with 49 kills and 12 total blocks. In a 3-2 loss to Bard on Oct. 16, Goldstein hit .333 with 14 kills. The senior wrapped the week with eight kills, hitting .533, in a 3-0 sweep of Yeshiva on Oct. 17.
