Softball Suffers Fourth Loss of Season to Hamline

Results:

St. Joseph's University (L.I.) suffers its third straight loss to Hamline on Tuesday afternoon, 13-0.

Key Players:
  • Sophomore Emily Fenezia laid down a bunt to start the game going 1-3 on the day

  • Freshman Antonia Busa went 1-2 on the day with a single in the first inning 

  • Junior Julia Ruocchio recorded one hit on two plate appearances

  • Josephine Cariveau of the pipers totaled two hits, three RBIs two runs scored and walked once 

  • Gabby Cook led Hamline tallying two hits on three at-bats, with four RBIs and two runs scored 

How it happened:
  • The top of the first inning saw the Golden Eagles total three hits but was unsuccessful in scoring any runs 

  • Hamline took advantage in the bottom of the first inning as they put together a 12-run inning on 11 hits 

  • A Carieveau double would bring in two runs to score for the Pipers bringing the lead to 8-0 in the opening inning 

  • Hamline would continue to build their lead as Cook would hit a home run over the centerfield wall bringing the two runners on base home to score 

  • The score would remain until the bottom of the third when Cariveau singled bringing home another run to score

Notes:
  • The Golden Eagles recorded three hits while the Pipers recorded 16 hits 

  • SJLI and Hamlin each recorded one error on the day 

Next up, the Golden Eagles plan to play against Meredith College in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, March 14 at 4:30 pm.
