Results:

The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) falters two Skyline Conference matchups to St. Joseph's Brooklyn on Friday evening.

Game One SJLI 0, SJBK 6:
Key Players:
  • Freshman Antonia Busa and sophomore Emily Fenezia were 1-3 at the plate 

  • Junior Madison DiPalo and sophomore Mariah Salvatto recorded one hit each

  • Sofia Greco of the Bears totaled three hits, to go along with two runs scored and one RBI

  • St. Joseph's Brooklyn's Audrey Scott was 2-4 at the plate with two RBIs

How it happened:
  • The Bears opened the game by finding the scoring column early with an error by the Golden Eagles allowing one run to score, followed by a Scott single to right field that saw another run come home

  • In the top of the second inning, a Legreco single to left center brought home Bella Gomez to score, bringing the lead to 3-0

  • The score would remain until the top of the seventh as the Bears would go on to score an additional three runs courtesy of an error from the Golden Eagles proceeded by an RBI single from Scott, which secured the 6-0 victory

Game two SJLI 1, SJBK 16
Key Players:
  • Senior Emily Bazarewski tallied one hit on one plate appearance with an RBI

  • Junior Julia Ruocchio secured a walk on the only appearance at the plate and scored a run

  • Bella Gomez of the Bears was a steady 3-4 with four runs scored and two RBIs

  • Maeve Mckeon of SJBK finished 2-3, with three RBIs and one run scored 

  • Autumn Poppett recorded two hits, two runs scored, and two RBIs

 

How it happened:
  • St. Joseph's Brooklyn started the game off strong securing five runs in the first inning, highlighted by a Legreco two-RBI double to left center 

  • The next inning would follow with the Bears mirroring their scoring with another five-run inning that saw a two-RBI single through the left side courtesy of Poppett 

  • The Golden Eagles would find the scoring column in the bottom of the second when Bazarewski would single through the left side bringing in one run to score 

  • In the top of the fourth Gomez would double through the right side driving in two runs to score, followed by a Kristen Oddo two-RBI double to left center, the following inning the Bears would score their final run of the game establishing the 16-1 victory

Next up, the Golden Eagles continue Skyline Conference play when they travel to Yeshiva University on Tuesday, May 2nd at 5:30 pm.
