Softball Topped by Meredith on Tuesday

Results:

St. Joseph's University (L.I.) drops a non-conference matchup to Meredith College 11-1, on Tuesday evening. 

Key Players:

• Sophomore Mariah Salvatto contributed two hits on three plate appearances for the Golden Eagles 

• Junior Julia Ruocchio went 1-2  at the plate hitting a single to center field while scoring a run

• Junior Madison DiPalo recorded one hit with two at-bats and added one RBI

• Sarah Manis of Meredith College went 3-3 at the plate with three runs scored and one RBI

• Morgan Knight totaled three hits and tallied four RBIs for Meredith College

How it happened:

• The game remained scoreless through the first inning until Meredith put together two runs in the top of the second on a double from Knight 

• The Avenging Angels would keep the momentum going into the third with three runs scored on three 

• Meredith would find a flow in their offense as they would score five runs on three hits in the top of the fourth inning bringing their lead to 10-0

• The bottom of the fourth would see the Golden Eagles score their first run as a single into center field from DiPalo would bring in Ruocchio to score 

• In the top of the fifth inning, Meredith College would put together one last effort scoring one run on two hits 

Notes:

• St. Joseph's would total four hits while Meredith had 10 hits total

• SJLI and the Avenging Angels each tallied one error each

• The Golden Eagles' pitching recorded four strikeouts while Meredith struck out six batter
