Skyline Conference Release 2023 Preseason Polls for Women's Lacrosse and Softball

New York, NY| The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's lacrosse and softball teams were selected to finish fifth, according to the Skyline Conference's 2022-23 preseason coaches polls released on the conference's website on Tuesday morning.

Women's lacrosse received a total of 34 points, while USMMA finished with 60 total votes garnering six first-place votes and being picked to finish first. Farmingdale St. also received two first-place votes with Maritime receiving one vote.

Geoff Casell enters his third season as head coach and looks to improve off of last season where the Golden Eagles finished 4-8 and 3-4 in conference play. As seven key returners look to make an impact on the season, the team looks to advance further into the season after being bounced in the first round of the Skyline Playoffs by Manhattanville.

Softball tallied a total of 50 points, with Farmingdale St.projected to finish first receiving seven first places, while Manhattanville secured three first-place votes.

Lisa Jusino enters her seventh season as head coach, coming off an impressive season where the Golden Eagles finished 16-14 and 11-7 in Skyline play. With 12 returners from last year, the team strives to progress further into the Skyline Conference playoffs after being upset by St. Joseph's Brooklyn in the first round of the Skyline playoffs last season.

Women's lacrosse has their season opener on Wednesday, March 1 at 3:00 pm when they travel to New Paltz. Softball opens up its season on March 25 at 12:00 pm when they visit Rutgers-Newark.
