Women's Soccer Shutout for First Loss of Season

The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) women's soccer team was held without a goal in their first loss of the season. 

Top performers
  • Gianna Labiento of the Pioneers scored the games only goal in the 23rd minute 

  • Sophomore Alyssa Schimmenti registered two shots on goal leading the Golden Eagles 

  • Emma Timochko recorded six saves facing six shots on goal

How it happened
  • The Golden Eagles looked to strike first as Carli LoNigro fired a shot into the bottom left corner of the net that was saved by Timochko, followed by a strike from Schimmenti into the bottom center that was also saved by Timochko

  • Just a minute later William Paterson would find the back of the net off a miscue from St. Joseph's backline with Labiento putting one right past the keeper to take the lead

  • In the 64th minute the Golden Eagles would look to capitalize on a penalty kick, but again Timochko would send Erica Urbancicks shot away, leaving the Pioneers with a one goal lead
