Women's Soccer Drops Conference Matchup to Sarah Lawrence

The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) women's soccer team was held without a score in a 3-0 Skyline Conference matchup against Sarah Lawrence College

Top performers

• Sophomore Kristin Vahle totaled five saves in goal while facing eight shots

• The Gryphons Cora Colvin and Grace Carter finished with one goal and one assist in the match

• Katey Beaver of Sarah Lawrence tallied two assists 

• Viktoria Balbin secured one goal

How it happened

• Sarah Lawrence opened the scoring column in the fourth minute of the game when Carter found the back of the net from a chip pass into the middle of the box from Beaver who was played through by Colvin

• The first half ended with the Gryphons finding the better opportunities but SJLI was able to hold strong to keep the game within one

• In the 60th minute, SLC's Beaver played a through ball to Balbin who found space in the box to put away the second goal of the match 

• Just three minutes later Balbin off an assist from Colvin and Carter sprinted into the left side of the box to strike a left-footed shot into the bottom right corner of the goal to secure the 3-0 victory for the Gryphons

• St. Joseph's finished with six total shots to Sarah Lawrence's 18

• SLC finished with two corner kicks to SJLI's one

• Three yellow cards were assessed in the match
