The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) women's soccer team was shut out in a 1-0 Skyline Conference match-up by the College of Mt. St. Vincent at Danzi Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Top performers
  • Sophomore keeper Krisitn Vahle finished with a game-best eight saves on the day

  • Junior Emily Furey accounted for two of SJLI's three shots in the match

  • CMSV's Caitlyn Thompson recorded the game's only goal after receiving a pass in the box from Alicia Rodriguez 

How it happened
  • The Dolphins broke up the scoreless stalemate just a few minutes before the break when Rodriguez sent a pass into the box from the near-side corner and found Thomson who got a couple of touches on the ball before shooting it by SJLI's Vahle

  • Mt. St. Vincent maintained possession through the majority of the game limiting the Golden Eagles to just three shots 

  • St. Joseph's best scoring opportunity came in the 39th minute when Furey sent a corner kick into the box, but Alyssa Ramke's shot was just wide of the net

  • The Golden Eagles were outshot 19 to 3 

  • CMSV's keeper Brooke Frierson finished with one save 

  • Today's game was part of the Kicks for Cancer initiative which brings awareness to breast cancer
