Lady Golden Eagles Splash Down Maritime, 6-0

Throggs Neck, N.Y. – Lady Golden Eagle (3-7-2, 1-2 Skyline) captain Jennifer Martino (East Patchogue, N.Y./Bellport) led her squad to a 6-0 victory over the Maritime Privateers (5-6-1, 1-2 Skyline) at Reinhart Field Wednesday evening.  Martino did it all - tallying two goals and one assist in the first half and entered the second half as goalkeeper protecting the Golden Eagles shutout with two saves.

SJC's Kristin Carroll (Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) connected just three minutes into the contest off a Martino assist that came from a Claire Brady (Center Moriches, N.Y./ Center Moriches) corner.

The Golden Eagles would go on to find three more goals before the conclusion of the first half as Martino scored back-to-back strikes at 8:35 and 21:22, while Kathryn Condron (Ridge, N.Y./Longwood) netted a goal from ten yards out via a Jaclyn Hughes (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) assist at 35:23.

St. Joseph's College's defense held Maritime's offense to zero shots in the first half, as the Golden Eagles' offense recorded 22 shots.

In the second half, Martino subbed in as goalkeeper for Katie McGarrell (Selden ,N.Y. / Newfield), moving McGarrell to a field position. McGarrell took advantage of her opportunity on offense scoring SJC's fifth goal of the game off sophomore Cassandra Costarelli's (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) pass. The sixth and final goal of the tilt came from Jaclyn Hughes (her second), who tallied an unassisted tally from 20 yards out at 67:58.

McGarrell and Martino split the team's second shutout of the season.

The Lady Golden Eagles will be on the road again as the team travels to Riverdale, N.Y. as they take on the College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins in a Skyline Conference battle this Friday at 3:30 p.m.
