Women's Basketball Takes Down John Jay, 88-71

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's basketball team picked up an 88-71 non-conference win over John Jay College in the Danzi Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles improve to 2-0 on the season as the Bloodhounds slide to 1-1.

Junior Alyssa Adomaites led St. Joseph's with 20 points on 9-for-12 shooting from the field. Senior Alyssa Signor dropped in 13 points with six rebounds and three steals. Sophomore Lanyah Ford finished with 11 points with junior Catherine Siounis rounding out the top scorers with 10 points.

John Jay's Ayanna Edwards recorded a game-best 23 points and five assists. Bobbi Green totaled 19 points with Gillian Powell pitching in with 12 points.

After the Golden Eagles took a 54-27 lead into the half, the Bloodhounds started to chip away turning in 19 points in the third frame. The visitors sparked a 10-0 run through the middle of the fourth quarter moving the score to 82-60 with just under five minutes on the clock. The Bloodhounds limited the Golden Eagles to just 12 points in the final frame, but the hosts went on to capture the 88-71 win.

As a team, the Golden Eagles shot 44.6% from the field, 37-for-88, while holding John Jay to just 35.0%. SJC held a 56-51 rebounding edge with a slight 40-38 advantage in the paint.

St. Joseph's opens up Skyline Conference play on Tuesday, November 16 when they host Yeshiva University at 7:00 PM.
