Women's Basketball Drops Skyline Contest to Manhattanville

Purchase, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's basketball team dropped their first contest of the season at the hands of Manhattanville College on Saturday afternoon. The 88-56 loss moves the Golden Eagles to 3-1 on the season with a 1-1 Skyline mark. The Valiants remain unbeaten at 5-0 overall, 2-0 Skyline.

Junior Alyssa Adomaites led SJC with 19 points with senior Alyssa Signor pitching in with a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds. Junior Julianna Knice dropped in eight points with three steals and two assists.

Faith Johnson-Desilva recorded a game-best 26 points on 10-for-20 shooting from the field and 5-for-6 at the free-throw line. Niyona Smith came off the bench for a double-double of 23 points and a game-high 20 boards. Ali Mikaele rounded out the top scorers with 13 points and seven assists.

After taking a 40-28 lead into halftime, the Valiants exploded for 30 points in the third quarter and pulled ahead 70-42. A 7-0 run from the home team opened the fourth frame and the Golden Eagles were unable to regain any momentum and ultimately fell 88-56.

Manhattanville outshot SJC 46.6% (32-for-69) to 23.9% (17-for-71) from the field. The Valiants were dominant down low outrebounding the Golden Eagles 59-37 with a 42-24 advantage in the paint.

St. Joseph's returns to the Danzi Center on Tuesday, November 23 when they host Sarah Lawrence College at 5:30 pm.
