Women's Basketball Edged by Manhattanville 66-60

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's basketball team dropped a 66-60 Skyline Conference decision against Manhattanville College on Tuesday evening in the Danzi Center.

The Golden Eagles fall to 9-4 on the season with a 6-4 conference mark. The Valiants improve to 11-2 overall, 7-1 Skyline.

Junior Alyssa Adomaites led SJC knocking down a game-best 29 points on 12-of-25 shooting from the field. Sophomore Lanyah Ford added 14 points with senior Alyssa Signor getting 10 points and a team-high 9 rebounds.

Manhattanville was led by Spencer Shore, who got 24 points with a game-high four made three-pointers. Claudia Valentin recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, with Faith Johnson-Desilvia putting up an additional 11 points for the Valiants.

The Golden Eagles were held to just eight points in the second quarter sending them into the break trailing 32-22, but the hosts went on to outscore Manhattanville 19-15 in the third and went into the final frame trailing by just six, 47-41.

SJC chipped away at the Valiant lead down the stretch and with 21 seconds on the clock, Adomaites knocked down a three-pointer that brought the home team to within two, 62-60. However, a couple of late free throws iced the game in favor of the Valiants.

Manhattanville finished shooting 36.9% from the field while holding the Golden Eagles to 34.2%. SJC outrebounded Manhattanville 51-44 with a 36-24 advantage in the paint.

St. Joseph's returns to action when they visit Sarah Lawrence for a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, January 22.
