Strong Finish Lifts Women's Basketball Over St. Joseph's-BK

Patchogue, NY| A strong fourth quarter lifted the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's basketball team to a 92-76 Skyline Conference win over sister school St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn in the Danzi Center on Saturday afternoon.

The win moved the Golden Eagles to 5-2 on the season with a 3-2 Skyline mark. The Bears slide to 1-5 overall, 1-2 Skyline.

Junior Alyssa Adomaites led all players with 28 points with 15 coming in the fourth quarter. Senior Alyssa Signor posted a double-double of 16 points and a season-best 17 rebounds. Freshman Felicia Barreiros provided 14 points on 5-for-10 shooting off the bench and Lanyah Ford pitched in with 13 points and seven boards.

Kelly O'Donnell led the Bears with a double-double of 20 points and a game-best 18 rebounds. Emma Kiley finished with a double-double of her own with 18 points and 17 boards. Alexis Breen and Jamie Provino rounded out the top scorers with 12 points apiece.

The Golden Eagles took a slight 56-54 lead into the fourth quarter where Adomaites outscored the Bears 7-3 to open the frame and increase the SJCLI lead to 63-57. A couple of minutes later, SJCBK's O'Donnell laid in a bucket to inch the Bears to two within three-67-64, but back-to-back triples from Barreiros gave the Golden Eagles some breathing room, 73-64, with under seven minutes left in the game. Following a Katie Maguire three at the 5:15 mark, the Golden Eagles would hold a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game and secure the 92-76 win.

As a team, SJCLI shot 38.2% from the field while holding SJCBK to 32.5%. The Golden Eagles turned 23 Bear turnovers in 23 points while outscoring the visitors 40-24 in the paint.

St. Joseph's resumes Skyline action on Tuesday, December 7 when they travel to take on SUNY Purchase at 6:00 pm.

The Golden Eagles wore their gold uniforms and shoelaces this afternoon in an effort to bring awareness to pediatric cancer through the Go 4 the Goal Foundation and their Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer campaign. Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer® started in 2011 in answer to requests from youth soccer teams in New Jersey that wanted to show their commitment to the fight against pediatric cancer. Today, teams across the country representing every sport from youth to professional have Laced Up in Go4theGoal's GOLD laces.
