Adomaites Breaks Record in 92-81 Win at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn

Patchogue, NY| Junior Alyssa Adomaites of the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's basketball team knocked down 44 points to break the SJC single-game points record in a 92-81 win over St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn on Wednesday evening.

The Golden Eagles improve to 12-6 on the season with a 9-6 mark in conference play. The Bears slide to 6-15 overall, 5-12 Skyline.

With just seconds remaining in the game, freshman Hailey Clancy passed it down the court to Adomaites who laid it in and eclipsed former teammate Megan Steinman who held the record at 42 since 2019. Fouled on the play, she drained the free throw to end her night with a historic 44 points.  The junior completed a double-double with 10 rebounds while dishing four assists.

Sophomore Lanyah Ford dropped in a season-best 26 points on 10-for-19 shooting from the field. Freshman Brianna Cordell recorded a double-double of 12 points and team-best 15 rebounds with five blocks.

Five Bears finished in double figures with Kelly O'Donnell finishing with a team-high 18 points while adding 10 boards. Jamie Provino recorded 16 points and Briana Gomez came off the bench for 13. Both Grace Kennedy and Emma Kiley rounded out the top scorers with 11 points with the latter pulling down 15 boards.

The Golden Eagles held a slight 44-40 lead at the half but it was the Bears who scored first in the third quarter to inch within one, 44-43. A Cordell layup with just over four minutes remaining in the frame sparked an 8-0 SJCLI run and the Golden Eagles would end the third leading 68-55.

The Bears would get to within eight in the fourth quarter, but SJCLI proved to be too much and went on to claim the 92-81 win.

The Golden Eagles shot 42.5% from the field while holding SJCBK to just 33.7%.

St. Joseph's will travel to take on Farmingdale State College on Saturday, February 12 at 11:00 am.
