New York, NY| Juniors Madison DiPalo (women's tennis) and Justin Gracia (men's soccer) were named Players of the Week while freshmen Nick Pensavalle (men's soccer) and Lorraine Podlesny (women's tennis) claimed Rookie of the Week honors when the Skyline Conference announced its weekly honors on Tuesday morning.
Additionally, Abbey Curcio (women's soccer), Gianna Dickson (women's cross country), Matt Lopez (men's cross country), and Jackie Wolf (women's volleyball) landed on Weekly Honor Rolls in their respective sports
Madison DiPalo (Jr.) - Women's Tennis Player of the Week
DiPalo went undefeated last week, securing wins at second doubles and third singles in an 8-1 win over Sarah Lawrence and victories at second doubles and second singles in a 9-0 sweep of Brooklyn.
Justin Gracia (Jr.) - Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Gracia scored in each of SJNY's two wins last week. The forward doubled the Golden Eagles' lead in a 2-0 win at Farmingdale before opening the scoring in a 3-1 victory at Purchase.
Nick Pensavalle (Fr.) - Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week
Pensavalle scored game-winning goals in both men's soccer's wins last week. The freshman collects his second weekly honor of the year having landed on the Weekly Honor Roll on September 13.
Lorraine Podlesny (Fr.) - Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week
Podlesny won at first doubles and second singles in the win over Sarah Lawrence and was victorious at first doubles and first singles in the 9-0 sweep of Brooklyn on Sunday.
Abbey Curcio (Sr.) - Women's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll
Curcio scored one goal in each of SJLI's wins this week: 3-0 over Purchase and 2-0 over Old Westbury.
Gianna Dickson (So.) - Women's Cross Country Weekly Honor Roll
Dickson placed sixth with a 6k time of 26:30.6 at the Mt. St. Mary Invitational and was fourth-best among Skyline runners.
Matt Lopez (Sr.) - Men's Cross Country Weekly Honor Roll
Lopez (27:52.1) finished in third place at the Mt. St. Mary Invitational and was the second-best Skyline runner in the 8k event.
Jackie Wolf (So.) - Women's Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll
Wolf led the Golden Eagles in kills (25) and digs (25) across two matches last week. The outside hitter had a match-high 17 kills and 13 digs in a 3-1 win over Ramapo.
