10 Golden Eagles Collect Skyline Weekly Awards

New York, NY| Seven Golden Eagles received Skyline recognition when the conference released its weekly awards on Tuesday morning.

Junior Mark Williams of the men's volleyball team was named Player of the Week, Luke MacPherson of the men's volleyball team was named Rookie of the Week, Kayla Sodano of women's lacrosse secured Rookie of the Week and Connor Van Dusen of the men's lacrosse team garnered Defensive Player of the Week. 

Additionally, senior Nick Vicino and junior Peter Manger of the baseball team, Jamie Trowbridge of women's lacrosse, Michael Carere of men's lacrosse, Joe Pinner of men's volleyball, and Ryan Freely of men's tennis all received Weekly Honor Roll recognition.

Mark Williams (Jr.) - Men's Volleyball Player of the Week

Williams Finished the week with 15 kills averaging 3 kills per set. The junior added nine digs, three blocks, three assists, and two service aces. The outside hitter matched a team-best 11 kills and finished with seven digs, two blocks, and a pair of aces in a 3-0 sweep of Ramapo.

Luke MacPherson (Fr.) - Men's Volleyball Rookie of the Week

MacPherson led the Golden Eagles with 18 kills averaging 3.60 kills per set while hitting at a .531 clip. The freshman added 11 digs averaging 2.20 digs per set with four service aces. The Holbrook, NY native finished with a team-high 11 kills with nine digs in a 3-0 sweep over Ramapo before turning in seven kills with a .700 hitting percentage in two sets against the College of Mount Saint Vincent.

Kayla Sodano (Fr.) - Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week

Sodano provided the Golden Eagles with three goals across two games on the week. The freshman also contributed one assist totaling four points, all while collecting three ground balls in the process.

Connor Van Dusen (Jr.) - Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week

Van Dusen helped guide the Golden Eagles to their first season victory, recording 23 saves while facing 57 shots in a Skyline Conference matchup against the College of Mount Saint Vincent. The goalie had an impressive .657 save percentage while making a game-high eight saves in the fourth quarter to help secure the victory for St. Joseph's.

Nick Vicino (Sr.) - Baseball Weekly Honor Roll

Vicino finished the week hitting .455 going 5-for-11 with three walks over three games this week. The senior was 5-for-7 with four RBIs, three runs scored, and a stolen base in a doubleheader sweep of Manhattanville College. The first baseman was flawless in the field with 27 putouts and two assists.

Peter Manger (Jr.) - Baseball Weekly Honor Roll

Manger Limited William Paterson to just two runs on three hits (.167) with a pair of strikeouts in a five-inning start.

Jamie Trowbridge (Sr.) - Women's Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll

Trowbridge led the Golden Eagles to two Skyline Conference Victories scoring seven goals and recording four assists in the process for a total of 11 points. The senior also led the team with 10 draw controls, collecting three ground balls and causing two turnovers.

Michael Carere (Jr.) - Men's Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll

Carere led the Golden Eagles in the lone game of the week scoring six goals in a Skyline Conference matchup against Mt. St. Vincent. The junior tallied two assists as well to total eight points. The Oakdale, NY native was an impressive 15-16 on faceoffs while also collecting a game-high 15 ground balls.

Joe Pinner (So.) - Men's Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll

Pinner finished the week with 11 digs and an assist. The sophomore collected a match-best 10 digs in a 3-0 sweep of Ramapo. 

Ryan Freely - (Gr.) - Men's Tennis Weekly Honor Roll

Freeley earned St. Joseph's lone win of the match against USMMA taking 6-1, 6-3 in #1 singles. The Graduate picked up a doubles match victory over John Jay with an 8-3 win, while also earning an 8-6, victory in the #1 singles match.
