Baseball Drops Two to Ramapo

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) baseball team suffered a couple of non-conference losses at the hands of Ramapo College at Gregg Alfano Field on Sunday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles move to 1-3 on the season as the Roadrunners jump out to a 2-0 start.

SJC 4, RC 22

SJC's John Lynch (3-for-4, R) had three hits to lead the Golden Eagles at the plate, but the game belonged to the Roadrunners who scored in all but two innings.

Charles Rainone (1-for-2, 2RBI) doubled in two runs in the bottom of the first with Paul Gugliuzzo (1-for-3, R, RBI) and John Thatcher (1-for-2, RBI) accounting for SJC's only other RBIs.

Ramapo's Brian Barnok went 4-for-4 at the plate knocking in four runs while scoring three. Tyler Guadagno was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored.

Starter Connor Schildt suffered the loss in his SJC debut.

Ramapo's James Garthaffner picked up the win allowing four runs on six hits with six strikeouts.

SJC 3, RC 14

The Roadrunners picked up in game two where they left off and after pushing across a run in each of the first two innings, a five-run third put the visitors ahead 7-0. A seven-run fifth extended the lead to 14-0 before a two-run homeroom from Nick Vicino (1-for-3, R, 2RBI) put the Golden Eagles on the board in the bottom of the sixth. Nick Corsaro (1-for-1, RBI) singled in a run later in the inning moving the game to its final 14-3.

SJC's Peter Manger surrendered five runs on four hits in 2.1 innings and was tagged with the loss. Ramapo's starter Nick Danbrowney allowed just one hit in five scoreless innings to pick up his first win of the season.

The Golden Eagles return to Gregg Alfano Field on Thursday, March 24 when they host Kean University.
