Baseball Breezes by Yeshiva, 11-2, 29-3

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) baseball team captured its fourth consecutive Skyline Conference doubleheader sweep with 11-2 and 29-3 wins over Yeshiva University at Gregg Alfano Field on Sunday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles improve to 9-4 on the season and remain perfect in Skyline play at 8-0. The Maccabees slip to 2-17 overall, 0-12 Skyline.

Game One: SJCLI 11, YU 2

An RBI double from John Lynch (3-for-4, R, 2 RBI) put the Golden Eagles on the board in the bottom of the first, but the Maccabees pushed two runs across in the top of the third taking a 2-1 lead.

SJC sent nine Golden Eagles to the plate in the bottom half of the fifth and strung together four hits and produced five runs to regain the lead at 6-2. St. Joseph's added five runs in the sixth before retiring the Maccabees in order in the seventh to claim the 11-2 win.

Joe Sanguedolce went 2-for-4 at the plate knocking in two runs while scoring twice. John Thatcher finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.

SJC's Kevin Yohe picked up his first win of the season allowing two runs on six hits with six strikeouts. Charles Aurandt provided two innings of shutout relief.

Game Two; SJCLI 29, YU 3

The Golden Eagles exploded for 24 hits in game two resulting in 29 runs. Yeshiva took advantage of an SJC defensive miscue and plated three runs in the top of the fifth.

SJC's Anselmo Joya was 3-for-4 at the dish and scored two runs. Ryan Decoursey went 2-for-3 including a grand slam in the bottom of the second. The shortstop knocked in six runs while scoring three. Six additional Golden Eagles recorded multiple hits.

Sean Brody earned his first win of the season allowing three runs on just two hits with eight Ks. Nicholas Dellitalia and Peter Manger both tossed a scoreless inning of relief.

The Golden Eagles return to Gregg Alfano Field on Tuesday, April 5 when they host William Paterson in a non-conference contest at 4:00 pm.
