Baseball Finishes a Split with Farmingdale

Farmingdale, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) baseball team finished with a Skyline Conference split with Farmingdale State College on Saturday afternoon. The

Golden Eagles (11-7, 10-2 Skyline) suffered a 3-2 loss to the Rams (11-10, 6-4 Skyline) in game one before coming back with a 12-0 win in game two.

Game One: SJC 2, FSC 3

A two-run home in the bottom of the first by Jordan Lambert put the home team ahead 2-0 early. The Golden Eagles got one back in the top of the second when Ryan Decoursey (1-for-2, R) led off the inning with a double to the left-center gap and came in to score two batters later.

Farmingdale quickly responded with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning to maintain their two-run advantage, 3-1.

After the middle innings went quietly, SJC's Charles Rainone (2-for-3, R, RBI) belted a solo shot down the right-field line, but the Rams managed to strand the tying run on first and hold on to the 3-2 win.

SJC's Kevin Czeczotka (2-1) was tagged with his first loss of the season allowing three runs on six hits with a pair of strikeouts. FSC's Stephen Clancy took the win allowing two runs on five hits with 12 Ks in a complete-game effort.

Game Two: SJC 12, FSC 0

The Golden Eagles turned the page quickly plating a run in the top of the first in game two. A couple of hits and a Farmingdale defensive error led to two runs in the top of the third extending SJC's lead to 3-0.

SJC pushed across a pair of runs in both the fifth and sixth innings before batting around for five runs in the top of the seventh and cruising to a 12-0 win.

SJC's Brian Forbes went 4-for-5 at the plate with four RBIs and two runs scored. Paul Gugliuzzo was 3-for-5 with four runs and an RBI.

St. Joseph's got a complete-game win from Charles Aurandt who surrendered just two hits with three strikeouts.

The Golden Eagles resume Skyline play on Saturday, April 16 when they travel to take on St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn. Game one is set for 12:00 pm.
