Baseball Secures Non-Conference Win Over John Jay

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) baseball team secured a 14-5 non-conference victory over John Jay College at Gregg Alfano Field on Tuesday afternoon.

The win moves the Golden Eagles to 13-8 on the season the Bloodhounds slide to 5-24.

SJC jumped ahead early posting four runs in the first inning courtesy of RBI singles from Paul Gugliuzzo (1-for-1, R, RBI) and Nick Vicino (1-for-3, RBI), an RBI double from Ryan Decoursey (1-for-1, R, 2 RBI) and Hermes Abreu (1-for-2, R, RBI) sac fly.

The Golden Eagles added two runs in the second via a pair of sacrifice flies before conceding three runs in the top of the third, 6-3.

St. Joseph's put up single runs in the bottom of the four and fifth innings, but they were quickly erased by a two-run John Jay sixth. Three RBI doubles from Brendan Eising, (1-for-2, R, RBI) Daniel Codipoti (1-for-1, R, 2 RBI), and James Maggio (2-for-2, 4 RBI) produced four SJC run in the bottom half of the sixth and a pair of runs in the seventh moved the game to its final, 14-5.

SJC starter Anthony Cinquemani got the win after tossing two scoreless innings.

The Golden Eagles return to Skyline Conference action on Saturday, April 23 when they travel to SUNY Maritime. Game one is set to start at 12:00 pm.
