Baseball Beats Lehman on Senior Day, 12-7

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) baseball team closed out the regular season with 12-7 non-conference win over Lehman College at Gregg Alfaro Field on Sunday afternoon. 

The win moves the Golden Eagles to 19-11 over all as the Lightning slide to 6-16. 

The Golden Eagles jumped to an early lead with two runs in the bottom of the of the first via a two-run blast from Brian Forbes (2-for-3, 2R, 2RBI). A two-RBI double down the left field line by James McAleavey (1-for-3, 2RBI) doubled the SJLI lead to 4-0 in the second. 

Lehman got on the board with a run in the top of the third, but a four-run bottom half of the inning saw the Golden Eagles extend their lead to 8-1. 

The Lightning cut the deficit in half courtesy of a run in the fourth and a two-run fifth, 8-4. 

Four runs came across for the Golden Eagles in the bottom of the fifth to go ahead 12-4 before three runs scored in the Lehman half of the eighth to move the game to its final 12-7.

Ryan Decoursey finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. 

Jack Kelly earned his first win of the season striking out four without allowing a hit. 

The Golden Eagles finished as the regular season champions and will host the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament as the top-seed May 6-8.
