How it happened:
  • The Gothic Knights jumped out in front early when three hits and a sacrifice fly resulted in a pair of runs

  • The visitors extended their lead in the top of the third when Garrett Allo singled down the leftfield line and came into score on a sac fly by Josh Hernandez

  • SJLI's Anselmo Joya started the bottom half of the fourth with a triple in the right-center gap and came in on Gullo's infield single for the Golden Eagles' first run. After a walk to Krpata, Paul Gugliuzzo's bunt single was thrown into right allowing Gullo to score and put runners on second and third with no outs. Two batters later, Decoursey was hit by a pitch and John Lynch worked a walk forcing home Krpata. A fielder's choice followed to send in Gugliuzzo and put the hosts ahead 4-3

  • A pair of walks started the bottom of the fifth for the Golden Eagles setting up a two-RBI double off the bat of Decoursey. Joe Sanguedolce sent an RBI single up the middle to widen the gap to 7-3

  • St. Joseph's stole a run in the bottom of the sixth moving the score to 8-4

  • A pinch-hit double by Ali Pompay followed by a pinch-hit single by Bryan Fernandez in the top of the seventh resulted in NJCU's fourth run of the game

  • A couple of NJCU passed balls resulted in a two-run bottom of the seventh before a two-out two-RBI double from Gullo capped the scoring for the Golden Eagles in the bottom of the eighth

  • The Gothic Knights scratched a run across in the top of the ninth, but St. Joseph's came away with the 12-5 win
