The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's basketball team defeated Baruch College, 67-47, in a non-conference matchup at the Danzi Center on Saturday afternoon.
Top performers:
- Senior Alyssa Adomaites shot 8-for-14 from the field and was 4-for-8 from three-point territory in a 24-point performance with seven rebounds and six assists
- Junior Lanyah Ford added 16 points and six rebounds
- Freshman Megan Spina shot 6-for-10 from the field and scored 12 points
- Senior Catherine Siounis picked up a season-high five steals
- Mia Castillo led the Bearcats with 20 points and added seven rebounds along with three blocks
- Baruch's D'Andre McRae collected a game-high 10 rebounds
How it happened:
- The Golden Eagles jumped out in front 8-2, then took a lead of 10 (16-6) on a made layup by Sophomore Felicia Barreiros before finishing the quarter ahead 16-8
- SJLI went on an 8-0 run to begin the second quarter, with Spina's bucket at the 4:56 mark doubling their lead (24-8)
- The Bearcats responded with 14 points in the final five minutes of the half, with Castillo scoring 11. SJLI finished the half up by eight (30-22)
- Adomaites scored 13 of St. Joseph's 19 points in the third quarter, with her triple at the 2:43 mark giving the Golden Eagles their largest lead of the afternoon of 23 points (49-2
- St. Joseph's went into the final frame up 49-31 and held an advantage of about 20 points for the rest of the game before claiming a 67-47 win

- The Golden Eagles shot 41.5% from the field and 28.6% from three-point range
- The Bearcats posted a 30% shooting percentage overall and 23.5% from beyond the arc
- Freshman Emma Kelly scored six points in the contest for the first points of her collegiate career
- St. Joseph's outscored Baruch 32-14 in the paint
