The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's basketball team defeated Mount St. Vincent, 54-46, in a conference match-up at the Danzi Center on Thursday evening.

Top performers:
  • Senior Alyssa Adomaites scored a team-high 14 points and secured 11 rebounds for a double-double to lead St. Joseph's

  • Senior Catherine Siounis went 3-for-6 from the field and scored 11 points while adding three steals

  • Kayla Hanley recorded a double-double for Mount St. Vincent, leading the team with 14 points and 11 boards

  • The Dolphins' Melanieann Broderick recorded a game-high 12 rebounds

  • Kira Villegas pitched in with 13 points and seven rebounds for the visitors

How it happened:
  • The game began with a back-and-forth battle, with the game tied at four at the 5:46 mark

  • Mount St. Vincent scored six points to take a 10-4 advantage on Hanley's three-pointer at the 4:19 mark

  • St. Joseph's came within one (12-11) with 2:31 remaining, then again at the 2:04 mark (14-13) before the Dolphins finished the quarter up by three (16-13)

  • The Golden Eagles went on a 9-2 run to begin the second quarter, taking a 22-18 lead on a pair of made free-throws by Siounis with 5:36 on the clock

  • The Dolphins took a lead of two (26-24) on a triple for Villegas at the 2:37 mark, then Freshman Megan Spina put SJLI back in front shortly after with a triple of her own (27-26) to complete the scoring of the quarter

  • The Golden Eagles went on a 7-0 run to begin the third frame, which was led by Siounis' three points, to go ahead 34-26

  • Spina's layup at the 5:15 mark in the third gave St. Joseph's a 10-point advantage (38-28)

  • Mount St. Vincent's responded with an 8-2 run to come within four of SJLI's lead, but the hosts finished the quarter up 40-36

  • St. Joseph's scored five of the first six points of the frame, with Junior Lanyah Ford's three-point play at the 4:52 mark in the fourth quarter putting SJLI ahead 45-37

  • Each team exchanged two point baskets, then Senior Julianna Knice's three point shot with 3:40 remaining put St. Joseph's up by 11 (50-39) for their largest lead of the night

  • Hanley's three-point shot for the Dolphins cut their deficit to six with 11 seconds remaining, but St. Joseph's came away with a 54-46 victory

  • St. Joseph's shot 27.3% from from the field and 10% from three-point range

  • The Dolphins recorded a 29.7% shooting percentage and 23.5% from beyond the arc

  • The Golden Eagles shot 16-for-17 (94.1%) in free-throws, while Mount St. Vincent went just 4-for-11 (36.4%) in free-throws

  • Each team scored 20 points in the paint, with the visitors edging St. Joseph's in rebounds 58-43
