The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's basketball team earned an 89-74 win over Sarah Lawrence in a conference match-up at the Danzi Center on Tuesday evening.

Top performers:
  • Senior Alyssa Adomaites scored a season-high 33 points and recorded eight steals to lead the Golden Eagles. She went 12-for-24 from the field and 6-for-6 on free throws
  • Junior Lanyah Ford recorded a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds, coming one assist short of a triple-double with nine
  • Two additional Golden Eagles finished in double-digits, as senior Julianna Knice scored 11 points and senior Catherine Siounis added 10
  • Sarah Lawrence was led by a 25-point, 12-rebound performance for Kendall Haymore for a double-double
  • Kaila Dorch went 7-for-12 from the field and also recorded a double-double, scoring 18 points off the bench to go along with 10 rebounds
  • The Gryphons also got a double-digit rebound performance from Jordyn Medina with 10 boards
How it happened:
  • St. Joseph's jumped out in front and went on a 14-0 run to begin the game
  • The hosts' led by as much as 23 in the quarter, as Adomaites' layup at the 2:30 mark put the Golden Eagles up 31-8 before they finished the quarter up 31-12
  • After the hosts posted a 31-point first quarter, Sarah Lawrence out-scored St. Joseph's 32-16 in the second quarter
  • The quarter went back-and forth for the first three minutes, then Sarah Lawrence went on a 17-3 run that brought them within seven (44-37) of St. Joseph's lead
  • SLC finished the second quarter with a 7-0 run, as a two-point shot by Dorch capped the run and brought the Gryphons within three (47-44) of SJLI's lead to end the half
  • That would be the closest the visitors would come to the Golden Eagles' lead, as the hosts remained in the lead for the remainder of the game
  • St. Joseph's went on a 12-2 run to begin the third quarter, with Adomaites scoring six of those points, to increase their lead to 59-46 at the 6:29 mark
  • Adomaites scored 12 of the Golden Eagles' 20 points in the quarter, as SJLI went into the final frame ahead by 10 (67-57)
  • A three-point play by Haymore and a layup for Dorch to begin the fourth trimmed SLC's deficit to six points (68-62) at the 8:04 mark, but St. Joseph's went back up by 10 twice, as they led 74-64 after an Adomaites layup with 5:25 remaining
  • The Golden Eagles kept a lead of at least seven for the next four minutes, then Adomaites' three-point shot with 1:50 left on the clock extended the lead to 85-74
  • Adomaites would score two more points, and a pair of made free-throws for Knice would give the Golden Eagles an 89-74 victory
Notes:
  • St. Joseph's shot 49.3% from the field and 38.7% from three-point territory
  • Sarah Lawrence posted a 39.4% shooting percentage from the field and 20.8% from three-point range
  • The Golden Eagles went 9-for-10 on free throws for a percentage of 90%, while Sarah Lawrence shot 72.2% (13-for-18) in free throws
  • Sarah Lawrence held the advantage in rebounds 51-31 and points in the paint 42-36
  • St. Joseph's recorded 25 assists compared to the visitors' 18, while SJLI scored 29 points off turnovers compared to the Gryphons' 15
