Women's Basketball Drops Fifth Conference Loss To Sarah Lawrence, 67-62

Results:

The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's basketball team suffered a fifth Skyline Conference loss, 67-62 on Monday night. 

Top performers:
  • Senior Alyssa Adomaites led the Golden Eagles in scoring with a game-high 28 points and five steals, to go along with three rebounds and two assists 

  • Junior Lanyah Ford contributed 19 points and four steals, and a team-high 11 rebounds and five assists 

  • Freshman Megan Spina pitched in eight points while adding four steals and two rebounds  

  • Kendall Haymore matched a team-high for the Gryphons scoring 15 points and completing the double-double with a game-high 13 rebounds

  • The Gryphons Colleen Coughlin recorded  a game-high eight assists, fifteen points, and five rebounds 

How it happened:
  • The Gryphons jumped out to an early lead from a 7-0 run in the first three and a half minutes of the game

  • SJLI would respond scoring seven straight points of their own, unanswered, to tie the game, with Sarah Lawrence pulling ahead late to end the first quarter, 11-7

  • The teams would trade baskets through the first half of the second quarter until SLC would go on a 14-4 run in the final five minutes of the half leading 31-17

  • The third quarter saw a back-and-forth battle between both teams with the Gryphons outscoring the Golden Eagles by five points

  • The Golden Eagles would fall behind as much as eighteen points with four minutes left in the game 

  • St. Joseph's would respond late going on a 17-4 run in the final four minutes of the game 

  • Adomaites went on to score 15 points in the final frame shooting 4-7 from the field and 5-5 from the free-throw line

Notes:
  • St. Joseph's shot 31.5% from the field while Sarah Lawrence shot 43.1% 

  • The Gryphons shot  39.1% from beyond the arc compared to the Golden Eagles' 13.6%

  • SJLI shot 13-for-15 (86.7%) on free throws, while SLC went just 8-for-15 (53.3%) on free-throws

  • Sarah Lawrence outrebounded St. Joseph's 50-37

  • The Golden Eagles recorded 19 steals compared to the Gryphons' eight 

  • SJLI scored 17 fast break points
