Women's Basketball Topped by Connecticut College, 67-45

Results:

The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's basketball team dropped a non-conference contest at Connecticut College 67-45 on Monday evening.

Top performers:
  • Junior Lanyah Ford led all players with 15 points while grabbing six rebounds and two steals
  • Junior Alyssa Adomaites pitched in with 12 points all coming from long range 
  • Senior Julianna Knice added 10 points on 4-for-5 shooting while dishing a team-best four assists
  • Jaycie Rojik and Catie Donadio led the Camels with 14 points apiece with the latter completing a double-double with a game-high 11 rebounds
How it happened:
  • St. Joseph's was held to just nine points in the opening frame all coming from beyond the arc
  • All five Camel starters recorded points shooting 9-for-18 from the floor to jump ahead 23-9 after the first quarter
  • The Golden Eagles regrouped and outscored Connecticut 19-13 in the second quarter, but went into the break trailing 36-28
  • Nearly shut out in the third, a three from Knice with just 17 seconds on the clock were the only points the Golden Eagles recorded in the frame
  • A slow start to the fourth saw just 10 points between the teams through the first five minutes. The Camels would grab their largest lead of the night, 67-41, with two minutes left and went on to cruise to a 67-45 win. 
Notes:
  • St. Joseph's shot just 24.6% from the field, while Connecticut finished the game with a 39.0% shooting percentage
  • The Camels were dominant down low outrebounding SJLI 48-36 and outscoring the visitors 32-2 in the point 
  • Conn's bench provided 20 points with SJLI's only recording six 

Next up, the Golden Eagles travel to play in the NYU Holiday Classic and will face Bowdoin College on Thursday, December 29 at 7:00 pm.
