Top performers:

  • Lissette Cordero added seven points, while Erin Conte pitched in six points and three steals off the bench for the Rams
How it happened:
  • The game remained scoreless for nearly the first four minutes of the contest before Ford opened the scoring with a three-point shot at the 6:12 mark
  • The Golden Eagles led by as much as five, but then Farmingdale State went on an 8-2 run that put the visitors in the lead 10-9 with 1:37 remaining in the quarter
  • Spina's pair of free throws put the hosts back in front to end the quarter up 11-10
  • St. Joseph's scored three of the first five points of the second quarter to lead 14-12, before Farmingdale State's Cordero made a three-point shot at the 6:42 mark to put the Rams ahead 15-14
  • There were three more lead changes in the quarter, with the Golden Eagles finishing the quarter up by one on a Ford layup (20-19)
  • Farmingdale began the third quarter with a 7-1 run that pulled them in the lead 26-21 before St. Joseph's scored 14 consecutive points to go ahead 35-26. Ford scored half of the points in that span, with her three at the 7:03 mark sparking the run
  • After the hosts finished the third ahead by nine (37-28), St. Joseph's scored eight of the first 11 points of the quarter to extend their lead to 14 (45-31). Consecutive three-point shots for Spina and Sophomore Felicia Barreiros powered the run
  • SJLI maintained that lead for the remainder of the game, then they finished the game with their largest lead of the afternoon. Sophomore Isabella Sierra's pair of made free throws extended the lead to 18 (56-38) with 18 seconds remaining
Notes:
  • St. Joseph's shot 32.7% from the field and 20% from three-point range
  • The Rams were limited to a 27.8% shooting percentage and just 18.8% from three-point territory
  • The Golden Eagles went 15-for-20 (75%) on free throws, while the Rams went just 5-for-13 (38.5%)
  • After a tight first two quarters, the Golden Eagles out-scored Farmingdale State 36-19 in the final two quarters
